ERP systems merge each of the company's key operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, finance, HR and customer service, into one integrated business system. For many businesses, the ERP system is at the core of their operations and is their platform for growth and development.
In some cases though a best-of-breed business system may be fit-for-purpose - this is where a specific package is used to manage a particular business function or operation that is either not catered for or not handled well enough within the ERP system.
